Smoky Hills PBS will not cover wrestling this year

Attention Smoky Hills PBS viewers and supporters ...

We regret to inform you that we will be unable to cover State Wrestling this year.  This would have marked our 41st year of wrestling coverage, and it saddens us deeply to miss out on this tradition.

Many factors went into our decision this year, and please know we didn't take this lightly.  The change in venue for this year's tournament and the demands of additional equipment needed to ensure a quality viewer experience weighed heavily on this decision.

We understand how much this event means to the communities in our coverage area, and we share in your disappointment.  Rest assured, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to bring you comprehensive wrestling coverage again next year.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

What Factors Impacted Our Decision:

  • Venue change caused unknown barriers that were not identified until late.
  • Additional equipment was needed for this event (high costs) and uncertainty of the arrival of additional equipment.
  • Increased costs overall for the event that was originally not identified to be accounted for within the budget for the event.

Additional Information ....

Is there anywhere else I can watch this?

People can watch wrestling and all other state championships online with KSHSAA's partnership with the NFHS Network.

Will you air this at any time later this year?

No, unfortunately, we will not be airing this LIVE or as a rebroadcast. We are hopeful we will have the opportunity to bring this event back next year.

Will you provide 2025 State Wrestling coverage?

Our goal is to provide coverage of the 2025 Wrestling Tournament.
